This summer, probably more than ever, is the season of enjoying the outdoors, and what better way is there to do that than having a picnic during picnic month? We’ve all become far more used to meeting friends and family outside, and in spite of the changeable weather this year we’ve found ways around it.

For many of us eating, and entertaining outdoors has become the norm. With picnic month over July we’ve been exchanging ideas on where to picnic far and wide around the UK as the team head off on their own Staycations. If you’re heading off on your own summer staycation let’s see if we can inspire you to visit a new spot!

5 best picnic spots

We’ll, of course, be packing a picnic full of nourishing, delicious, simple fare. A few of our Nourish favourites for packing up in our picnic basket are, Fennel and Bean Salad, Keto Buns (that we’ll stuff full of Nush cream cheese, pesto and rocket, or dip in our Quick Keto Dip), and of course a pack or two of our favourite macaroons! It has to be Passionfruit or Vanilla for us on a hot day, how about you?

Surrey - Leith Hill

We couldn't not mention this gorgeous Surrey Hills spot that is just down the road from Nourish HQ. With an amazing view greeting you at the top, that's even better if you can climb the tower, it's a great spot to spread out your blanket. Surrey sprawls out before you with it's rolling hills and on a fine day you can look out to London and further on to Sussex and the coast. If you forget your picnic then the café in the tower has a great array of locally produced goodies from Tanhouse Farm.

Norfolk - Wells-next-the-sea

The pictures of the colourful beach huts here alone are a great incentive to visit this soft, sandy beach. With the epic skies that this part of the world is so well known for, this is the place to stretch out on the sand and enjoy the views. We’ve often paddled just metres away from the grey seals here or watched them basking in the sunshine on the shoreline. Very shallow for paddling and perfect on a windy day for a little kite flying after your picnic. Why not pack up a cool box and reward yourself with a Raw Bar after a dip?

Raw Bars

Eastbourne - Holywell

A favourite place to just sit, breathe and enjoy the sounds of the sea. A quiet spot, shhhh, don’t tell anyone else. The kids love to skim stones while the grown ups can sit and watch the the sea and big sky. A slow picnic spot as you won’t want to the leave! We love to pack up a Chocolate Lovers Box and indulge in a spot of tea from a flask and a chocolatey treat!

Cornwall - Trebarwith Strand

This National Trust beach is the perfect spot for watching the surfers, or getting involved yourself, it’s where I learnt to surf in my teens! With numerous rock pools and small caves to explore it’s a great spot with the kids for a little exploring. Lay your picnic out on the warm rocks and watch the sea, just check the tides before you visit as the beach virtually disappears at high tide. It’s also very close to Tintagel, home of the Arthur and the Round Table tales, perfect if you have a budding knight on your hands.

Cotswolds - Kingham and Burford

Ineke and family often like to get in a sneaky store visit to check out Nourish on the shelves and with Daylesford Farm Shop being on the way to the Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens, it’s the perfect spot to pick up some picnic goodies. An inspiring store with plenty of picnic choices, then it’s off down the road to the Wildlife Park for a picnic amongst the animals! Eating amongst the wildlife is a fave of the kids and adults alike!

Nourishing Picnic Box

Why not pack up our brand NEW Picnic Box on your next adventure, it's packed full of picnic goodies!
