The gut loving benefits of Nourish products

Looking to love your gut a little more? Find out about the gut loving benefits of the Nourish range from our own inhouse Functional Medicine Practitioner, Ineke. Nourish products were designed to do you good from the inside out, but what is it about them that is particularly good for your gut?

Last week we looked at how the gut influences skin health, and over the coming weeks we'll be delving more into all things gut health, with the 8 foods that skin wants you to eat. Keep your eyes peeled for more.

1. Fibre

Aids digestion and elimination among many other amazing benefits to your body. We are recommended to have a minimum of 30g a day, however many adults don’t reach even 15g of fibre a day. Fibre also helps you feel full for longer and helps stabilise blood sugars. Coconut is a great source of fibre! Found in our range of Coconut Macaroons and Bites, this is made up of mainly insoluble fibre. This type of fibre helps to bulk up stools and help with elimination. It is also a great source of MCFA (Medium-Chain Fatty Acids) which helps to support good gut bacteria. Cacao is also a rich source of soluble fibre! 2. Lauric Acid

A medium-chain fatty acid. This is found in coconut and coconut oil and has been shown to have excellent anti-microbial properties. This is readily found in all of our products!

3. Flavonoids

Often cited in health articles. Flavonoids have been shown to exhibit anti-inflammatory, antithrombogenic, antidiabetic, anticancer and neuroprotective activities. They help to feed your good gut bacteria. Examples of flavonoids include herbs, spices, fruits, vegetables, dark chocolate. We have included these in all of our products. Take our strawberry bites, packed full of organic strawberry, or our Coconutty and Cacao Bites, Macaroons and Cookies, full of rich dark Cacao (which we source direct from farms in Peru and use in its raw form to maintain all the goodness for your gut!)

4. Fermented Products 

Excellent for feeding your gut bacteria. Apple cider vinegar is one excellent fermented product your gut loves and you can find this in our Turmeric Bites and our Oat Cookies!
